๐Ÿ’ผ 6. Create a Validator Wallet (Keypair)

Before registering as a validator, you need to generate a wallet that will hold your RNGY stake and be used for validator operations.

๐Ÿ” Step 1: Generate a New Wallet

Run the following command to create a new keypair:

renergyd keys add validator --home "$HOME/.renergyMainnetNode"
  • You will be prompted to set a wallet password

  • This password is required whenever the wallet is accessed

๐Ÿ“ค Example Output

After successful creation, youโ€™ll see output similar to:

address: renergy1x9k4v...abc
name: validator
pubkey: {"@type":"/ethermint.crypto.v1.ethsecp256k1.PubKey","key":"A9Fh2Kp...XYZ"}
type: local

๐Ÿ“Œ What This Step Accomplishes

Creating the wallet results in:

  • ๐Ÿงพ A validator wallet address (e.g., renergy1...)

  • ๐Ÿ”‘ A public key used for staking and validator registration

  • ๐Ÿ” A locally encrypted private key stored under: ~/.renergyMainnetNode

This wallet will be used to:

  • Self-stake RNGY

  • Register your validator

  • Pay transaction and governance fees

โš ๏ธ Important: Back up your mnemonic seed phrase securely. If itโ€™s lost, the wallet cannot be recovered.

Your validator wallet is now ready to be used on Renergy Blockchain.
